Toddlers & Teens

Being a mom to toddlers and teens can get interesting. Its like flipping an on and off switch all day. While I have actually found much joy in having the various age ranges, it does come at a cost. Having children 15 years to 5 months old puts me in a mom category that pretty much leaves me as a lone ranger with friends. Here are a couple things I have been learning:

1. There will be tears so just get use to it! YES!!! With a two year old, five month old, a middle schooler and two high schoolers, there are going to be lots of tears. OH, I am not talking about from me (there's wine and yoga for that), it would be them. I have learned it's important to keep my cool, meltdowns and hunger strikes with the little ones are destined to happen and the older kids feelings are subject to be hurt because you have scolded at them for not completing chores or taking care of scholastic business. Grab your kleenex or baby wipes!

2. You will not get much sleep. I have accepted that due to the nature of my family dynamics and the age of my kids, my husband and I will not sleep much and here is why. 1. Older kids always have something to do and most times you are the Uber (except you don't get paid). There will be events, practices, tournaments, competitions and you will have had attended them with your stroller, and countless hours of sitting. 2. You will have moments when your toddler/baby will wake up sporadically at night. You will be tasked with the hard decision of making the juice they are asking for or hearing the crying. 3. You will be up late at night getting ish done because it is at that time everyone is sleep. For me this is basically my get out of jail free card, this is when I write.

3. The vehicle will be a mess. I have accepted that (I am working on my husband in this department). Whether its food, toys, shoes, the reality is, it gets messy. I have come to accept this and I dont allow it to take up space in my thoughts. Understanding this, I try to make it a habit for the the girls to take everything out of the car. However, it comes at a price because there have been countless times that I have looked for items that I typically keep in the van and they are not there. Oh Boy, you don't want to experience. those days..

Anyhow, I hope I didn't bore you too much! Check out what's brewing on instagram.
