So, if you are anything like me you are completely swoon by the Royal Wedding! Meghan Markle, an American actress, humanitarian and activist married Prince Harry today at St. Georges Chapel, Windsor Castle. The wedding was truly magical. It was not magical because Meghan married a Prince or because it took place on the grounds of the castle...or because they exited in a horse and carriage. I mean, all of that was pretty dope, however, it was magical because they showed us what it means to be a transformational leader. They demonstrated that to be a great leader, to institute change and to be a keeper of your character, it starts with you. Meghan and Harry shared with the world that although they are getting married, they have the ability to use their platform to share a message that the world needs and that message is Love.
The now Duke and Duchess of Sussex, shared their special day with some notable people that we know such as, Oprah Winfrey, Elton John, Victoria and David Beckham, Serena Williams and Alexis Ohanian, Idris Elba to name a few. The wedding featured an African - American bishop named Michael Curry who delivered a beautiful address about Love. Not love in the intimate sense, but love in the sense of a community. He shares quotes from Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., and he completely moves the crowd in
a way that was evident in the faces of the guests.
Here is what we can learn; On the road to becoming, you must be transformational. You must be an individual that understands with change can come many great things. With change, you can transform a community into a body of individuals that can see what being a leader entails. It gives people the confidence and drive to desire to be better, be an innovative thinker and embrace change. Meghan was born to an African - American mother and Caucasian father. With those mere details, you can imagine the stir of whispers that shook the town when that was uncovered. The couple did not allow that to hinder their love, instead they decided to use it as a catalyst to share a powerful message with the world. Love conquers and endures all, it is not selfish, it is of God and it is the magic sauce that has bound two people together to create a groundbreaking nuptial in the monarchy that is the first of its kind. Its a love that is truly worth sharing. Congratulations to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex!
